Let us introduce some simple Japanese that might be useful when you get in trouble riding Japanese train!
Approach to someone close to a map!
- If you need to ask about the location, approach to them near the map, or have map ready in your hand. They will be able to point you on the map, even if both of you cannot speak each others' language.
Ask the station staffs!
- People dressed as shown left are information clerks of Keio.
Please ask them whenever you have any problem.
Speak slowly when you talk!
- Even the Japanese people fluent to foreign language, it is hard to understand the speaking of native speaker.
Speak very slowly, and have a smooth and pleasant conversation.
If you have any problem, please go to the information booth at the station.
If you need to ask where the information booth is, go near the information map in the station, and ask
to someone near you.
If you are not sure that the train you are about to get on will take you to the right station, ask
to someone near you.
