Fuchu Area

Located at nearly the center of Tokyo Prefecture, Fuchu City has a long history and tradition. The city has come more recently to be known and loved as “Rugby Town.” Situated close to Tokyo Stadium, it is also known for the Tokyo Racecourse.

01Fuchū Station

From Shinjuku Station, the train to Fuchū Station in Fuchu City, Tokyo, takes about 20 minutes.

02JRA Tokyo Racecourse

Since opening in 1933, this racecourse, one of the largest in Japan, has been the site of many famed races. You can enjoy super-exciting matchups scheduled nearly every Saturday and Sunday in spring and autumn.

In addition to entertainment available for children, the racecourse also offers such horse-related attractions as a museum featuring materials on horseracing and a riding center.

03Okunitama Jinja Shrine

Surrounded by a lush green grove, this renowned shrine boasts a history of over 1,900 years. The Okunitama-no-okami deity, known as the guardian deity of marriage and protector against misfortune, is enshrined here.

Don’t miss the sacred ginkgo tree, over 1,000 years old, standing behind the main shrine hall. Prayers to the tree are said to grant a quick recovery after childbirth.

04Suntory Musashino
Brewery

The beer brewery of beverage giant Suntory offers visitor tours of the process for brewing deep, rich beer made only from malt, hops, and natural water. The brewery gift shop offers limited-edition goods.

Take a guided tour of the manufacturing process and watch The Premium Malt course video to learn about brewing. Visitors can also sample freshly made beer.
